Wavy Shade Barn Lights Add Color to Tybee Island Beach Homes

It’s summertime and the living is beachy! One of our favorite spots, other than our own back yard, is Tybee Island, Georgia. On a recent trip to this laid-back isle just east of Savannah, we spotted some colorful exterior lighting.

We discovered that our friend, Savannah designer Jane Coslick, lent her talented eye and color savvy-hand in decorating several of these spaces. We’re sharing some photos today as summer inspiration!

Tybee is a great place to walk, not only on the beach, but on the roads that border beautiful Tybee Creek where birds dive for dinner and dolphins play daily. This home has a lovely deck that offers a great view of the creek and all its activity.

One of Jane’s favorite Barn Light Electric fixtures is the Seaside Gooseneck Light. She recommended this handcrafted wall light because of its playful wavy shade and the rainbow of finish colors that are available.

These two particular shades are 12″ and powder coated in a lively Watermelon finish. Shades are also available in 14″ and 16″ sizes, and if Watermelon isn’t your style, there are more than two dozen other colors and natural finishes to choose from.

The front porch of this home features plenty of room to watch the tourists go by while the pergola offers respite from the summer sun. For this space, Jane chose the more compact Seaside Wall Sconce.

With its relaxed style echoing Tybee’s chill vibe, this Magenta wall sconce adds another splash of color to complement the bright blue door and aqua deck chairs.

Available in three shade sizes and multiple finish colors, this American-made sconce can also be customized with cast guard and glass, a dusk-to-dawn photocell, or a plug-in option for dry locations.

And just behind the dune on the north end of the island, we find Jane’s own cottage aptly named 99 Steps to the Beach. Jane and her visitors enjoy the ocean breezes from the patio which is highlighted by a Seaside Wall Sconce. Jane chose a creamy Chartreuse finish which pops nicely off the white porch and resembles the colorful flowers from the nearby garden.
