Featured Customer | Rustic Wall Sconces Offer Plenty of Light to New Bathroom
Although her home is located on a lake in Cornelius, North Carolina, today’s Featured Customer didn’t want to pursue a lake design when she remodeled her boys’ bathroom. Lisa planned a complete remodel, gutting the bathroom to the walls, then started from scratch.
“I had a vision of a rustic barn,” Lisa says. “The faucets and fixtures are stainless steel so I started looking for brushed steel lighting but everything was very modern. I was thinking more industrial or rustic which brought me to a galvanized finish.”
Lisa found our Atomic Topless Streamline Industrial Guard Sconce during an online search and thought it matched the new space perfectly. She chose two sconces to flank the mirror and customized the fixtures with clear glass and a standard cast guard. This popular sconce comes with three glass choices, two guard styles, and more than 12 powder coat finish colors. If you like our porcelain colors, our paint-to-match porcelain option allows you to choose one of eight colors in that palette.
Inspired by the 1930’s Streamline Modern style, this American made sconce features sleek rounded corners, horizontal grooves, and a sturdy backing plate for a rugged industrial look. Lisa’s counter is soapstone and the vanity and mirror were painted red, distressed, and then glazed to complement the barn style she was working towards. Though not visible in the photos, Lisa’s porcelain tile is weathered, white washed wood plank adding even more rustic flavor. She notes that the size of the sconces attracted her plus the fact they can take a 100-watt bulb.
“I chose clear glass so they would put out the maximum amount of light, and they provide excellent light for the mirror,” she says. “The quality of the fixture is superior and they feel very solid, not flimsy like other cage lights I looked at. The cage sconces fit exactly into my vision.”
