That’s a Wrap! Handcrafted Lighting Stars in Final Look at Phoenix Home
Alas, all good things must come to an end, and today we conclude our series on The Early Avery. We introduced this beautiful Phoenix bungalow back in July in this post as our friend Austin King at Rafterhouse completed his latest build. The Early Avery serves as a short-term rental for vacationers and as a temporary home for Rafterhouse clients while their home build is completed.
We explored the exterior of the Early Avery in this post as Austin talked design strategies and why he chose theDominion Gooseneck Light andStreamline Industrial Guard Ring Sconces to accent these inviting spaces.
Our new Timber & Ore Collection starred in the second post of the series which featured the open layout of the kitchen, dining, and living areas. And last month’s post explored Austin’s lighting choices for the guest spaces in the home.
Today, we take a peek at the laundry room and three bathrooms which show that although these rooms are smaller, Austin didn’t skimp on functionality and style.
The laundry room, for example, is a beautiful space filled with natural light, a handy farmhouse sink accented by a tiled wall and gorgeous flooring. Austin chose one of his favorite Barn Light Electric fixtures for this room — the Wilcox Uplight Stem Mount Pendant. He customized this handcrafted pendant with a 12″ shade and Black powder coat finish.
“The laundry room has decent size, and it felt like the space could hold the rigid stem mount,” Austin explains. “In smaller spaces, we switch to the thinner visual weight of a cord to not be overpowering. The Wilcox Uplight has a unique balance of traditional and industrial which is what I enjoy.”
For the master bathroom, Austin chose the vintage style of our Homestead Pendants to accent the vanity. These pendants are customized with Milk Glass shades, Black cloth cords, Black cups, and a turn key switch for a traditional look. Austin added vintage appeal with 40-watt spiral Edison bulbs.
“The Homestead Pendants are an elegant but fun fixture to use in the master bathroom,” he explains. “The milk glass ties in well with the monochromatic scheme of this space, and the black options pair well with the floor tile while the paddle switch gives them an artisan feel.”
Two of the bathrooms feature fixtures from the new Timber & Ore Collection. The hall bath is accented by the simple yet stunning Downtown Minimalist Wooden Socket Wall Sconce. This hand-turned wall sconce is crafted from oak wood and customized with a black mounting.
Just off the living area is the powder room where Austin chose the Downtown Minimalist Wooden Socket Pendant to complement the antique-style sink base. He admits that this room is one of his favorites.
“The Minimalist Pendant is the perfect way to gently accent the powder room without making the fixture visually overbearing,” he explains. “While the overhead lights provide the bulk of the functional lighting needs, the Edison-style bulb in the pendant provides just the right accent glow.”
Austin customized this bathroom pendant with hand-turned oak wood, a Black mounting, and a Black cloth cord adds a hint of texture.
“We chose oak for this pendant because the tone best matches the vanity,” Austin says. “That’s what so great about Barn Light — there are so many ways to customize each fixture, we can always create the exact look we want in each space!”
