Hometown Lighting Manufacturer Easy Choice for New Homeowner
Beginning with an empty lot on the Indian River in Titusville, Florida, Betty faced countless decisions in creating the coastal-themed home of her dreams. But the decision on where to purchase lighting for her new home was an easy one.
“I would definitely go with Barn Light Electric since they are right here in my hometown,” Betty says. “The lights are American made and the company has a very good reputation.”
Although Betty set out with a coastal theme in mind for her home, as the build progressed, she shifted a bit to add some industrial pieces for a more eclectic look. For the front porch, Betty selected the Outback LED Stem Mount Pendant.
Betty customized this handcrafted pendant with a generous 20″ shade in a Teal finish. The cast guard features a contrasting Black finish while the frosted glass diffuses the illumination to a soft glow. The integrated LED module offers approximately 50,000 hours of service so Betty not only saves money on her electric bill, but she’ll never have to change a light bulb!
“My porch has a 10-foot ceiling so I felt the 20″ shade would work well,” she explains. “And the Teal finish is a good match with the door. This pendant is just perfect for my front porch.”
The garage also sports LED fixtures from our Outback family of fixtures. These two handspun gooseneck lights feature 14″ shades and the same Teal finish and Black guard as the porch light. A G22 gooseneck arm brings the fixture to just the right projection away from the façade.
For the side garage door, Betty switched things up a bit and chose the Industrial Guard LED Sconce. She customized this fixture with the Teal finish, a warehouse shade, frosted glass, and a dusk–to-dawn photocell.
“I chose the photocell option so I never have to turn the switch on,” she notes. “It’s very convenient!”
Inside, Betty stayed with her hometown lighting company for her kitchen lights. She picked out the Brunson Wooden Top Pendant to highlight her sink and countertops. These pendant lights feature a metal shade topped by a handcrafted piece of Ash wood. The metal is finished in powder coat Black while black cloth cords add texture.
“I chose the Brunson Pendants for the space over the sink because I like the two-tone effect with wood on top and the black bottom,” Betty explains. “The wood matches the kitchen island and the light-stained beams in the ceiling and mantle.”
Across the kitchen, Betty chose a more industrial fixture in the Tuscany Gooseneck Light to flank the exhaust hood over the stove. She customized these American-made gooseneck lights with a powder coat Black finish and G15 gooseneck arms.
“I chose the light that would fit perfectly between the cabinets and the exhaust hood,” she notes. “I like the industrial look and the Black matches my décor.” Betty spent countless hours on Pinterest and Houzz during the build process looking for coastal and industrial inspiration.
“I couldn’t decide if I wanted to go coastal or industrial so I mixed them together,” she says. “These lights are perfect for my eclectic style and knowing they’re made right here in my town is great. I absolutely love all of my barn lights!”
