Nautical Wall Sconces Attractive Both Day & Night
What’s better than a light fixture that fits your space and provides exactly the amount of light you need?
How about a fixture that looks just as beautiful when it’s turned off? When Jessica Phillips, of Phillips Tax & Consulting, renovated a small building in downtown Hastings, Michigan, she realized every design detail had to have purpose.
“The front of the building is small, and it’s easy to miss when you’re driving by. We wanted to trick it out by being intentional about the quality and design of the relatively few features that are there,” Jessica says. “It was important to me to create something that looked classic and vintage, but at the same time felt clean and modern.”
Brick was chosen for warmth and texture while a bold-patterned awning catches the eye. The exterior lighting was another “small detail, big impact” item that was selected for character. Jessica chose the Industrial Guard Sconce with a Black finish to flank the doorway and windows. These handcrafted, nautical sconces are customized with a wire guard and frosted glass.
“I specifically searched for this style of light because they are just really cool,” she notes. “It had been awhile since I’d been on the Barn Light website, and the selection is amazing. I got distracted by all of the fantastic possibilities, but ultimately returned to these sconces for their industrial feel.”
This American-made wall sconce can be customized with one of more than two dozen finish colors, three guard options, and six glass options so you can tailor the fixture to complement most any decor. A dusk-to-dawn photocell can also be added for convenience. Jessica opted to use high-efficiency LED bulbs in her new lighting.
“Energy conservation is really important to us. We calculated our projected energy use and it will cost less than $20 annually to run these lights for a couple of hours in the morning and approximately five hours every evening,” Jessica explains. “We love how the black color really pops off the brick and the frosted glass offers a soft glow with 60-watt LED bulbs inside.”
The four sconces serve as an eye-catching detail in the dark when they’re on, but are even more attractive in the daytime when they serve as stylish accents.
“When I discovered that Barn Light’s products are made in the USA and at a better price point than another manufacturer, I decided to give them a try,” Jessica says. “We weren’t disappointed.”
