Rebuilding after a tragedy can take a toll on any family, no matter what the circumstances are. This is an event that we unfortunately see time and time again, especially in recent years with the flooding and hurricanes. On a lighter note, some choose to view the tragedy at hand as an opportunity to grow and flourish – which is exactly what this Santa Barbara family did. When their California home was destroyed after a fire, they wanted to rebuild with a classic look:
“Our house burned down in 2008 and when we rebuilt, we wanted something timeless, not a house that said: ‘built in 2011.’ The Chestnut Pendants in black (with GU-24 bulbs) helped make that statement.”
Judging by the kitchen pictured above, we would say they successfully achieved that timeless look! It appears to have a very functional layout, yet is provided with ample room for entertaining too. The decor is one that will look great over time, not easy to date back to a particular time period. There are both clean and contemporary lines – found in the tile back splash with touch of vintage coming from the retro stove.
All of this is brought together by the use of the Chestnut Pendant Lights hung over the expansive island below. The Chestnut is one of our most flexible barn pendants in terms of design and style; they blend with a timeless looking kitchen, however, can be great pops of color in a nautical setting. The family featured today even opted to have a GU-24 base manufactured into their pendant lighting. This is a smart choice, as the GU-24 is considered to be the new standard in light bulbs and energy efficiency, and we’re all about going green!
