Classic Barn Lights Boost Vintage Style for Rustic Woodlands Home

In Monday’s post, we met Edy of Lake Ann, Michigan, and got a glimpse of the seven-acre, lushly wooded spot she and her husband now call home. The couple’s new digs overlook a small pond where they enjoy the abundance of wildlife that share their outdoor space. Edy chose to outfit her new home with classic barn lights to lend a cottage feel to the place and celebrate the rustic nature of her surroundings.

Today, we venture inside Edy’s home where she chose several fixtures that complement the warehouse shades she chose for the exterior. Thanks to the array of customizing options offered by Barn Light Electric, Edy was able to bring barn lights into her home but with different colors and mounting options.

“I incorporated barn lights inside and out for a seamless flow and so that everything would tie in well,” Edy says.

A half bath serves as a stopping off point coming into the house. Edy chose the same Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Light she used on her garage, but customized this wall light with a 12″ shade and a Barn Red finish. The G16 Galvanized gooseneck arm projects the light straight away from the wall’s surface.

“This is a great place to wash off muddy boots and scrub your hands after being outside,” Edy says. “I wanted a pop of color against the stainless steel deep sink and the dark frame mirror. It looks really country cottage in Red. It’s exactly what I wanted.”

In the master bathroom, Edy chose the exact same fixture but with a White finish color.

“I especially love the barn lights in the bathroom,” she adds. “The main theme in the master bath is white — white vanity, white subway tile, white soaker tub — it all blends seamlessly.”

For the kitchen, Edy chose cool tones of gray and white. These hues are brightened with accents of light blue. The Big Chill 36″ stove and the backsplash behind it add a colorful touch as do three porcelain enamel pendants above the island.

These Dino Chain Hung Pendants are hand spun from commercial grade steel and customized with 12″ shades. Edy chose the soft Delphite Blue finish color for these ceiling pendants.

“The blue accents blend nicely with the gray and white throughout the kitchen,” she explains. “The overall theme in our home is cool tones complemented by warm tones of wood in the floor, dining table, and other furniture.”

In the nearby dining room, a Lapa Ceiling Fan stirs the air during warm summer months. Edy chose this particular fan for its simplicity and functionality.

“We chose Galvanized fans to match the stainless accents in the kitchen and our door hardware as well,” she says. The dining room fan features 42″ blades while a matching Lapa Fan in the great room features 52″ blades.

It’s hard to look at anything in the great room besides the huge wall of windows that bring the great outdoors right inside.

“The big windows in that room were a must and my husband insisted on them being as large as possible for that wall,” Edy notes. Highlighting the walls adjacent to the windows are two Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Lights. The 12″ shades are customized with an Industrial Grey finish and G11 gooseneck arms.

“I chose grey for these goosenecks because I wanted them to match the grey walls and blend in without overpowering the space,” she says. “I put low wattage bulbs in them so they provide nice dim accent lighting. When they’re on, we can still see the fire in the stove.”

In the stairwell rising above this beautiful space, a matching Original™ Warehouse Stem Mount Pendant sheds light on the stairs.

“Now that the lights are all up, I love that they blend in seamlessly and give a beautiful, yet comfortable, feel to our home,” Edy says. “They are inviting and functional in appearance; not stuffy or formal. They are a perfect fit for what I wanted — an easy comfortable American home!”
