Customized Schoolhouse Pendant Gets High Marks in New Kitchen
Contemporary décors often incorporate classic decorative features to add a timeless feel to the space. When Stephanie built a new home in Lake Eufaula, Oklahoma, she searched for kitchen lighting that would offer a balance of vintage influences with modern options.
“I searched for American-made lighting with plenty of customizing options and found Barn Light Electric on Facebook,” Stephanie says. “I loved the selections and nostalgic feel of all the products.” As she worked on her kitchen design, Stephanie wanted to create a light and airy space with a hint of a coastal/beach vibe.
She selected the Drum Schoolhouse Stem Mount Pendant to highlight her new kitchen sink and counter. This handcrafted pendant harkens back to the early 20th century when hand-blown glass globes were first used to cover bare bulbs. These fixtures were often found in schoolhouses, government buildings, and hospitals.
Stephanie customized her new Drum Schoolhouse light with clear glass, a Raw Brass fitter, canopy and stem, and four painted bands of Delphite Blue.
“I liked these elements individually and thought they would look great together,” Stephanie explains. “The four bands of blue lend the beach vibe I was looking for.” The Drum Schoolhouse collection offers this iconic globe in seven different mountings including pendant, chain, sconce, and gooseneck mounts. All are easy to customize with finish color, glass options, painted bands, fitter and cord colors, plus LED options.
Our ever-expanding Schoolhouse Collection also includes the popular Primary Schoolhouse glass, Round Schoolhouse, and Acorn Schoolhouse so you can discover the best shape and style for your residential or commercial needs.
“I feel this light works well in my kitchen and adds a hint of personality,” Stephanie says. “The classic shape of the fixture, the Raw Brass stem, and the hint of color are perfect for its chosen location.”
