Boys’ Ski-Themed Bedroom Features Rustic Industrial Lighting & Décor
Transitioning a baby’s room for a growing boy is a fun project for the whole family. For Rachel in Parker, Colorado, the fun is multiplied by two thanks to her twin boys who were ready for a new look in their bedroom. Rachel and her mom, Leslie, worked together to create a space where the boys can sleep, dream, play, and socialize well into their teen years.
“The whole family is into skiing, and their favorite place is Beaver Creek Ski Resort,” Leslie says. “The feature wall is an actual ski map of the resort. The feel we were going for was young, fun, and ski-themed.”
When searching for a lamp for the table between the twin beds, Rachel and Leslie searched Google for quality lighting that could be customized with a Navy finish color. Their search landed them on the Barn Light Electric website where they discovered an extensive collection of American-made lighting with an array of customizing options.
“Navy blue is a hard color to find,” Leslie notes, “but it coordinates perfectly with the binding on the Pottery Barn shams.” The ladies found the Original™ Retro Desk Lamp and customized it with a 12″ handspun shade, a Navy finish, and a 12″ stem. They also chose a white cord and plug.
“We wanted the smaller shade so it wouldn’t block as much of the feature wall,” Leslie explains. “The most important thing was the color, the scale, the metal, and the youthful take on a rustic barn lamp.” Patterned after 1940s-style desk lamps, this industrial table lamp also features a cast iron weighted bottom to prevent tipping. It is available in two shade sizes and more than 30 finish colors.
“It looks really expensive, high quality, and the color is perfect,” Leslie says. “It’s a cute space for my twin grandsons that they can easily tween and teen into.”
