Veterans Day Barn Light Electric 2022

A Salute to the Veterans at Barn Light Electric

Barn Light Electric joins the nation today as we celebrate veterans and their service to our country. First celebrated as Armistice Day, Veterans Day marked the end of World War I and was formally recognized on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month in 1918. America honors the original tie with November 11 by celebrating Veterans Day on the same date every year regardless of which day of the week it falls.

Bob

We are proud to have 10 veterans on the Barn Light team. Bob has been working in assembly for more than a year. He served in the Marine Corps from 1972 to 1978 at Camp Pendleton in California, and was attached to an infantry unit as a mortarman.

“My favorite memory of the service was the people I met,” Bob says. “We keep in touch and have reunions. For the last 15 years, I’ve been involved with a motorcycle club that’s all Marines. It’s a brotherhood thing.”

Doug

Doug served his country as a telephone and radio communications operator in the Army from 1984 to 1993.

“My best memory of my tenure in the military was that both of my children were born during that time,” Doug notes. “I grew as a husband, a man, and a person due to the structure and discipline I learned. I also accepted Christ as my savior during that time. I have taken the teamwork skills I obtained in the Army to every job I’ve had.” Doug has been with Barn Light for more than nine years and currently serves as a supervisor in the inventory department.

Don

Don served during one of the most tumultuous time periods in American history — the Vietnam era. He was a Navy seal in Vietnam from September 1961 until April 1966.

“My best memory of the service was getting out,” Don says. “I served in President Kennedy’s honor guard and participated in his funeral.” Don will celebrate this two-year anniversary of working in Barn Light’s paint department early next year.

To all of our veterans, we say a heartfelt thank you!
