Garage Mahal: 50’s Hot Rod Garage

June 2010 – These days, cable television is packed with home makeover shows, but this time, DIY Network has taken it to a whole new level! Where else can you see a drive-in movie theatre complete with flat screen TV’s or a Vegas-style casino that descends from the ceiling – all within your own garage? Here, expert hosts transform everyday garages into crazy, jaw-dropping spaces. Garage Mahal is hosted by WWE and Apprentice star Bill Goldberg.

In this episode, hosts visit one of the Burbank Choppers in California. The theme here: 50’s style Hot Rod Garage! What comes to mind first? Checkered floors, jukeboxes and old classic cars? Trust us, the design team didn’t leave out any details when customizing this garage. They thought of everything – including appropriately themed lighting from Barn Light Electric!

Within the garage, designers chose our appropriately fitting, industrial line of Atomic sconces. This very popular line of Barn Light Electric lighting is based off of the 1950’s when a new era brought massive changes into the home. Just like the garage, it was out with the old and in with the new! America had had enough of the previous Mid Century Modern style, and the Atomic design period was born.

No design captures this period better than our vast line of Atomic Sconces, Pendants and Chandeliers. These iconic, vapor jar lights can adapt to many settings due to the vast history behind the light. Today, our Atomic sconces find themselves being mounted everywhere - including doorways, hallways, porches, and of course, now garages!
