October 2009 – If you tune into ABC Sunday nights, chances are you have watched Ty Pennington and his design crew change the lives of yet another deserving family. This week, America was introduced to the Hills of Suffield, Connecticut. This family of 13 wasn’t always so large. William and Catherine had six children before taking in seven nieces and nephews due to unforeseen circumstances. After doubling their occupancy and with severe water damage discovered in the basement, it was easy to see that the Hills were next in line for a well-deserved extreme home makeover! Actor and rapper Xzibit joined the team to provide some additional help to this selfless family.

When the design team contacted Barn Light Electric about contributing to the renovation of the Hill’s house they, along with their manufacturer, were more than happy to offer our services! A desired urban environment was created in the finished basement with pair of 7” angle shades on HL-H Goosenecks that were used to light a media wall, and the addition of a number of 17” Old Dixie Pendants with red wire guards were suspended from the ceiling around the basement. The raw look of the galvanized finish on these shades helps to compliment the bright colors and rich tones that encompassed the walls and furniture, creating an impressive loft-inspired environment.

The finishing touch completing this ideal Man Cave was the addition of a kitchenette with a corresponding workout room equipped with a wall-mounted commercial barn fan, keeping the young men of the Hill house cool while they workout.
