First introduced in the early 20th century, glass schoolhouse shades remain fashionable to this day. These fixtures first gained prominence in public spaces — such as hospitals, courthouses, and government offices — but now give residential settings a classic sense of character. Modern designers use schoolhouse chandeliers to spotlight dining room tables and kitchen islands in residential applications. In commercial venues, these lights are incorporated as dynamic focal points to define the space.
This particular chandelier suspends two shades from an industrial-quality mounting. The mounting is available in your choice of powder coat finish, copper, or brass, and a clear or opaque shade can be selected. Hand-painted bands of color are available to complete the look and elevate the shade’s charm!
Features customizable glass schoolhouse globes and hand-spun fitters.

Schoolhouse Globes
Schoolhouse globes are best cleaned with a damp, soft cloth. To protect the glass and painted bands, avoid alcohol-based and abrasive cleaners. Instead, we recommend the following alcohol-free soaps and cleaners: 409, Windex, Dawn Dish Soap, Simple Green, and Mr. Clean Multi-Surface.
Schoolhouse globes featuring a painted band selection should only be used indoors. The single band style has a silver border outlining the chosen finish.
Copper & Brass
For oil-rubbed copper, weathered copper and brass finishes, slight variations may occur from shade to shade. Copper & brass finish option includes brushed aluminum connective pieces.
Copper and brass fixtures have a longer lead time and may take up to 4 weeks to manufacture. That are no returns accepted on these metals.
Copper is a "living" metal that, without regular cleaning, will undergo a natural weathering process. Much like the formation of rust on iron, a patina develops on copper which actually protects the metal. If you prefer the new-penny look of copper, you can keep it shiny with regular care with a gentle cleaning agent such as Bar Keeper's Friend.
Lead Times & Returns
Lead Time: Standard lead time is 7-14 business days. For products in our Quick Ship Collection, standard lead time is 5-7 business days. Products utilizing natural metals including brass and copper may take up to 20-30 business days to manufacture.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to current supply chain challenges and additional factors beyond Barn Light Electric's control, lead times may be longer than customary. Please contact our Customer Care Team if you have any questions or concerns regarding your order(s) at 321-269-2299. We apologize for this inconvenience and appreciate your extended patience.
Finish Care & Maintenance
No metal fixture, no matter the finish, is guaranteed against corrosion especially in salt air environments. If your fixture is installed in a location near salt water, we recommend cleaning it frequently.
If your fixture is not installed in a location near salt water, we recommend periodic cleaning with a mild soap-and-water wash and gentle buffing to extend the life of our painted finishes.
