Wall Sconces Offer Alternative to Gooseneck Lighting for Farmhouse Porch

The lakes region of central Maine is dotted with quintessential little towns that boast busy coffee shops, barns filled with antiques, and plenty of freshwater lakes bustling with activity during the short, but oh so sweet, summer.

Catherine and her husband enjoy spending time at their home in Naples near Sebago Lake. They spend summers there and many weekends throughout the year soaking up all that the area offers.

Since the farmhouse-style home was built in 2004, the couple tackled several remodeling projects recently including updating their exterior lighting.

“I wanted the doors and lights to emphasize the farmhouse look,” Catherine says. “I was looking for fluted, gooseneck lights in particular.” But when Catherine measured carefully for the new fixtures, she found that a gooseneck arm would extend the fixture too far from the wall.

When searching for alternatives, she discovered the Wall Sconce collection at Barn Light Electric. The Seaside Wall Sconce featured the fluted shade Catherine loved plus a more compact wall mounting.

“I didn’t want a small light fixture so I went with the 14″ shade which is more visible from the street,” she explains. “Being able to customize it in Barn Red was a bonus!” Catherine also installed a third sconce by her side door to match.

The wall-hugging profile of the Seaside makes it perfect for hallways, porches, bathrooms, and closets. Handspun from commercial grade aluminum, this wall sconce can be installed indoors or out and is also available with a plug-in option for interior locations. Three shade sizes, dozens of finish colors, and other options mean you can customize this American-made light to your heart’s content.

“They are the one thing I love most about the house. I have received many compliments on them,” Catherine says. “They are unique, beautiful, and excellent quality. We are very, very happy!”
