gooseneck_warehouse_shades_pendants_restaurant_lighting.jpgAfter a long day browsing through every gift shop, attraction, and candy store on the main street in Gatlinburg, there’s nothing like a Texas-sized steak and baked potato to revive you for the evening activities. After all, you know your kids want to ride the Space Needle after dark! While we admit the neon beer sign might catch your eye if you’re hot and tired, we couldn’t help but notice the RLM-inspired warehouse shades beckoning tourists to the front door. These gooseneck barn lights are very much like The Drake Gooseneck Light, a perfect mid-sized shade with all the style of larger warehouse shades. These fixtures provide just the right amount of directed light spread over the doorway and sidewalk.

original_warehouse_gooseneck_light1.jpgAs you ascend the steep grade of Woodfin Street in downtown Asheville, North Carolina, you can’t help but notice the giant graffiti mural of two chickens. These elegant fowl mark the entrance to Chicken Alley, a narrow street lined with brick buildings. Chicken Alley got its name from the chicken processing that took place here decades ago; now it is home to artists’ studios, living spaces, and, according to local legend, the ghost of Dr. Jamie Smith who has been sighted countless times since his untimely death in a barroom confrontation back in 1902. Though we didn’t spot any unusual apparitions the day we visited Chicken Alley, we did find some classic gooseneck lights!

One thing is for certain — New Englanders love their coffee! Two weeks ago, on the main blog, we explored a coffee shop in Arlington, Massachusetts, all lit up by beautiful warehouse shades. Today, we travel closer in towards Boston to historic Cambridge where we find the Dwelltime Coffee Bar has also gone all vintage with their commercial lighting scheme. This inviting venue certainly makes you want to belly up to the coffee bar, then relax with a good e-book, and enjoy the surroundings!
