Industrial Barn Lights Shine in a Rustic Industrial Kitchen

Nothing says safe and secure like massive stone walls. A blizzard could be raging outside these windows and you would be all warm and cozy here in the kitchen with a bowl of hot soup and crusty bread sitting at the kitchen island crafted from smooth, reclaimed wood. This kitchen has many great farmhouse touches from the distressed cabinets and old fashioned hardware to the exposed, rough hewn beams in the ceiling down to the copper sink that adds a bit of a rustic glow to the room. Antiques look great with the industrial farmhouse style and this homeowner went right back to the 1930s to find appropriate lighting for this space.

Vintage touches abound in this space from the banquette seating with beadboard accents, to the subway tile behind the counters, and the glassed front cabinetry. Our eyes were especially drawn to the delicate glass shade pendant hanging above the kitchen table. Read More »

Featured Customer | Retro Industrial Pendants A Hit for California Sheet Metal Company

In September 2011, a fire broke out in a 150-year-old building that housed a hotel, bar, and Frank M. Booth, Inc. As the structure was torn apart, they noticed large, hand-hewn columns that were part of the original building — a carriage-making shop built in the 1860s. Some of the columns still had large metal rings where horses would be tied in the shop.

Classic RLM Warehouse Shade Brings Light to Stained Glass

Sometimes you find interesting lighting in the most unexpected places. On a recent trip to the Grovewood Gallery, a 9,000-square-foot showcase of some of America’s finest artists and craftsmen, we were pleasantly surprised to find not only the friendliest standard poodle ever was waiting to greet us, but an array of RLM-inspired warehouse shades in sunshine yellow. The artist in residence was Carl Powell who works with glass and is a National Endowment of the Arts recipient. Carl was happy to show us his latest project in the works — a stained glass door for a homeowner, all taking place under this beautiful yellow barn warehouse shade.
