Industrial Ceiling Lights Blend Rustic, Modern Details
Should auld acquaintance be forgot, And never brought to mind?
No, we’re not getting an early start to the party, just visiting with an old acquaintance from Pennsylvania! Our good friends at Spring Creek Design have been featured on the blog in the past for some amazing projects including a sustainable barn and a lovely patio. Today, Sandy Cooper, operations manager for Spring Creek Design, shares a project with us that brought an interesting mix of rustic and modern touches to a home in Chestnut Hill, a suburb of Philadelphia.
“We wanted the feeling of an old barn — rough hewn, primitive, and handmade along with sophisticated touches that would remind the owner of the modern condo in Philadelphia that she was leaving,” Sandy says. In the breakfast nook, which features plenty of warm tones with the soft yellow paint, wood table and chair, and built-in banquette seating, Sandy chose the Sydney Pendant Light to bring light to the table. This industrial ceiling light was customized with an 18″ Galvanized shade, red cast guard, clear glass, and standard black cord.
“We love the shape of this fixture and the red accent which complements the red plywood cabinets and reclaimed barn wood used in the island,” she explains. “And the galvanized finish made sense with the rest of the project.”
In the mudroom, Sandy chose a similar fixture in the Sydney Flush Mount Pendant Light. This rugged fixture hugs the ceiling while still providing plenty of light through the 14″ Galvanized shade.
“The flush mount light we originally ordered was too large for the space and Barn Light Electric was very helpful in arranging the exchange for a smaller fixture,” Sandy adds.
Both the Sydney Pendant Light and the Sydney Flush Mount Pendant are American made by our own craftsmen who spin the shades from commercial-grade materials. Our assembly crew then puts the finishing touches on each fixture according to the customer’s specifications.
“We have used Barn Light Electric lights many times before and have always been happy with the quality of the product and the customer service,” Sandy says. “They look beautiful and were definitely the correct choice.”
