Pendant Lighting Evokes Coastal Vibe for Beach House Reno
When Kathy started planning an extensive remodel of her Florida Panhandle vacation home, she wanted to create plenty of open space with a calm feel, lots of white, and a pop of color. A resident of Titusville, Florida, Kathy also knew exactly where to turn for quality, American-made lighting.
“I always knew I wanted to incorporate Barn Light Electric lights into the design,” she says. “I have followed Barn Light for many years!” Kathy loves the Jadite finish color from Barn Light’s porcelain enamel collection. She decided it would bring the perfect pop of soft color to her remodeled kitchen.
Kathy chose the Brisbane Pendant Light to highlight the island. She customized these industrial-style pendants with 14″ shades, her favorite Jadite finish, and standard white cords. She chose a contrasting Galvanized guard for the fixtures and clear glass for plenty of illumination.
“We live next to a lighthouse, so I felt the Brisbane carried that theme into the house in a quiet way,” Kathy explains. “Based on the Jadite color, I picked a countertop that would work with the lights to complete the space. And the Galvanized cage connects to our metal ceiling. It’s a nice balance.”
Kathy carried the guard-and-glass style into a nearby bathroom with two Cherokee Uplight Gooseneck Lights. She customized these wall lights with 12″ shades, a Cobalt Blue finish, and G26 gooseneck arms.
“The ceilings are nine feet, so we had room to add the gooseneck arm as a focal point and bit of art,” Kathy notes. “It’s a large light that also has a lighthouse feel.”
The Cherokee and Brisbane lights are handcrafted from commercial-grade materials and easy to customize with a variety of sizes, finish colors, and mountings.
“The lights were one of the last things we installed and I love the mood they set,” Kathy says. “To me, the lights connect everything in the room — metal ceiling, countertops, and the lights.”
