Industrial Sconces, Glass Pendants for Hong Kong Patagonia Store
Much like Barn Light Electric, the Patagonia company had humble beginnings. It was in a shed in his parent’s back yard that founder Yvon Chouinard began crafting climbing tools to use on weekend forays into wilderness areas in Yosemite, Wyoming, and Canada. At one of the newest Patagonia stores in Hong Kong, designer Pater Wong wanted to bring the Patagonia story into the interior design of the new space.
“Pater selected steel, rocks, and wood as the main materials for the store,” says Jeff Chan, General Manager of Patagonia Hong Kong. “He wanted to create an industrial feel.” The store, once home to a Japanese restaurant, was completely remodeled. Over the checkout area, Pater chose the Homestead Pendant Light customized with clear ribbed glass, a standard black cord, and a Textured Black cup finish.
“The reason for choosing the glass shade pendants over the cashier is to create a warm and welcome feel,” Jeff explains. Along the side walls, half a dozen Streamline Industrial Guard Sconces were installed to bring a spot of light to mirrors and clothing displays. These American-made, rustic sconces were crafted with a Galvanized finish and a standard cast guard and ribbed glass. Jeff notes that these sconces perfectly complement the industrial feel of the other materials used throughout the store.
In the dressing rooms, Pater chose a traditional farm light to highlight the mirrors. The Warehouse Wall Sconce Lights feature the classic jelly jar glass and are finished in Antique Pewter.
On the exterior of the store, two All Weather Gooseneck Farm Lights flank the doorway and add to the rustic, industrial look. The 13″ RLM-inspired warehouse shades sport a clean, Black finish and a G31 gooseneck arm.
“We tend to choose basic colors such as galvanized and black,” Jeff says. “Of all the lights, customers like the Streamline Wall Sconces the best because of their classic shape.”
