Industrial Lighting Adds Instant Character & Charm to New Home
While building a new house has plenty of advantages over renovating an existing home, many people prefer the character an older home offers. Thanks to an endless variety of materials, finishes, fabrics, and lighting, homeowners can create instant character even in a brand new home.
When David and Brooke built their new barn home in central Ohio, they wanted to create a space with plenty of wood and rustic accents.
“Our design is an open concept, barn home with industrial accents,” David says. “We used primarily reclaimed materials with natural tones and black iron hardware.” The large kitchen features a central island beneath vaulted reclaimed wood ceilings. David and Brooke chose classic RLM warehouse pendants to highlight the space.
“Barn-style lights match our space and create a consistent flow with the theme of our home,” David explains. “These pendants provide an industrial touch that is a great complement to the main style of our home.” These handspun Original™ Warehouse Pendants feature 16″ shades, an Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish, and black cotton cords.
“The large shades provide the necessary dimension for our open-concept kitchen,” David notes. “The Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish matches the hardware, and the black cotton cords blend with our black windows.”
Over the sink, the couple chose two Downtown Minimalist Adjustable Wall Sconces. These fashionable wall lights feature an arm that can be moved to deliver light exactly where needed. These are customized with the same Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish as the nearby pendant lights.
“We wanted something simple that went with our industrial theme,” David says. “And again, this finish accents our kitchen cabinet hardware and black windows.”
The exterior of this gorgeous home also gets a dose of industrial charm thanks to two Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Lights flanking the roof over the sliding doors. These American-made gooseneck lights boast generous 20″ shades, a Textured Black finish, and G22 gooseneck arms.
“These oversized black gooseneck lights are the correct fit for our roof and they match our black Marvin windows,” David notes. Based on designs from the early 20th century, The Original™ is one of Barn Light’s most popular fixtures. Our artisans spin commercial-grade metals on a lathe to achieve the iconic shape then the shade can be customized in dozens of way to complement most any style.
“The durability makes these lights look and function as they did on day one,” David says. “They are a testament to the American-made brand!”
