How To | Top Questions About Caring for Porcelain Enamelware
Our recently expanded Porcelain Enamel Dinnerware Collection has been getting a lot of buzz lately in blog posts and social shares. The heightened interest always stirs up lots of questions! Today our sales staff share the most often-asked questions about our enamelware.
Q: Can I put my Breakfast Set into the dishwasher?
A: Porcelain enamel is handcrafted from commercial grade steel thus it’s very durable. And while these plates, cups, bowls and serving pieces are dishwasher safe, we suggest you avoid harsh detergents and give the pieces plenty of space so they don’t rub together during the cycle. Hand washing your enamelware, on the other hand, with a mild soap and soft cloth or sponge will prolong the life of your dishes and keep the color looking new for years to come.
Q: Can I heat up my leftovers in my Enamelware Bowls in the microwave?
A: Since our enamelware starts out as a flat sheet of steel, the answer to this one is no! Metal and microwaves do not play well together!
Q: What type of utensils can I use in my new Graniteware Mixing Bowls?
A: We recommend using silicone utensils to preserve the porcelain enamel finish.
Q: What is the best way to store my Porcelain Enamel Plates?
A: We suggest using a shelf liner to separate the pieces to avoid constant rubbing. This reduces wear and tear on the pieces and will keep the high-gloss finish looking brand new.
Q: What oven temps are safe for my Enamel Graniteware Pie Plate?
A: All of our porcelain enamel bakeware pieces are handcrafted in the United States and are oven-safe up to 450ᵒF which translates to 232ᵒC.
