Farmhouse Lights Adorn New Wraparound Porch for Finishing Touch
Remodeling jobs sometimes take on a life of their own. What starts out as a simple refresh can often turn into a full-blown renovation as layers of use are peeled back. Occasionally, long-hidden problems are exposed that must be handled before incorporating a new design or adding décor.
When Courtney and her husband started a remodel of his grandparent’s farmhouse in rural Minnesota, it quickly turned into much more.
“After finding black mold and other red flag items, it became a down-to-the-studs renovation instead,” Courtney says. But the change in plans offered some benefits as the couple changed the layout of the home to better suit their needs and added a second floor. Courtney chronicled much of the renovation on her Instagram feed.
“We also added a wraparound porch which completely changed the look of the home,” she adds. “We added vertical white board-and-batten, black windows, and a brown shingle roof.”
Courtney, who writes the popular blog With Love From Courtney, admits a love for the gooseneck lighting she sees on Pinterest, Instagram, and other social sites.
“A few of my favorite home bloggers had tagged Barn Light Electric and, after that, it seemed like every other photo I saw of someone’s home I liked had Barn Light tagged as the fixture!” she notes.
Courtney and her husband decided to dress up their new porch with handcrafted gooseneck barn lights to complete the farmhouse look. They chose the classic Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Light to flank the front door. They customized these American-made lights with 12″ shades, a Black finish, and G26 gooseneck arms.
“We wanted to really draw out that modern farmhouse look,” Courtney says. “I love that your fixtures are American made and how the black finish ties in with our black windows.” The couple also added the same fixtures to the two rear doors on the back of the home.
The Original™ Warehouse Gooseneck Light is one of Barn Light’s most popular fixtures thanks to its classic RLM style. This handspun barn light is easy to customize with seven shade sizes and dozens of finish colors to choose from.
“We love the look of the gooseneck lights as they make such a statement especially on either side of our front door,” Courtney says. “The really are the addition to the exterior that ties the whole modern farmhouse look together!”
