Color Inspiration | Classic Black Always in Style
So who remembers the 2017 Pantone color of the year? How about 2016 when they chose not one, but two, colors of the year?
Anybody?
Color trends may come and quickly go, but Black is one hue that will never, in our humble opinion, go out of style. (By the way, Pantone picked Greenery for this year taking over from last year’s baby blue and pink tones of Serenity and Rose Quartz.)
Many people consider Black a “safe” color. Our sales team hears that quite often — “I’m afraid to pick a color, so I just want Black.”
But Black can be the perfect choice for so many spaces, serving as either a focal point against a lighter palette or acting more subtly to allow other design elements to shine. Black is classic, elegant, moody, modern, and traditional all rolled into one!
Here at Barn Light Electric, we offer three different choices when it comes to classic Black. Two finishes are powder coat and one is porcelain enamel. To better understand the difference between powder coat and porcelain, be sure to check out this blog post.
The two powder coat finishes are available in Black and Textured Black. The kitchen above, currently a finalist in the 2017 Remodelista Considered Design Awards, features an Original™ Warehouse Pendant in Textured Black. Zachary Leung loves the timeless look of the black matte pendant which draws the eye upwards in his rustic yet refined kitchen.
In this master bathroom, Downtown Minimalist Adjustable Sconces, also in Textured Black, provide a pop of color against white shiplap walls while tying in with the mirror hardware. According to this article on Houzz, black accents are trending in bathrooms.
With eye-catching wallpaper in this kitchen, the homeowner needed pendant lighting that took a back seat in the overall design. These handcrafted Eclipse Cord Hung Pendants, with a Black finish, bring needed light to the space and offer a bit of subtle texture with cotton twist cords.
For a high-gloss look that will never fade, you can’t beat a porcelain enamel finish. These Goodrich® Esso Porcelain Gooseneck Lights are the perfect complement to the crisp siding, bright red door, and black hardware.
Likewise, this Wheeler™ Wilcox Wall Sconce, with its porcelain enamel Black finish, is suitable for any exterior location and will never go out of style.
And for those who want to truly embrace Black as a design element, consider Annie’s garage. Although she always wanted to paint her house black, she couldn’t quite convince her husband. They compromised on the garage. Read all about their project in this blog post and check out the galvanized wall sconce they chose as the perfect accent!
