Professional’s Corner | Porcelain Lighting, Warehouse Shades for Green-Built Home

In yesterday’s blog post we visited a brand new, green-built home in northern New York designed by a couple who were unhappy with renting but didn’t have the finances to buy an expensive, energy-efficient home built to their standards. We took a tour of Jeff and Kalie’s new kitchen where five cord-hung porcelain enamel lights take center stage over the island and countertops. Sassy Gooseneck Lights Dress Up Outdoor Kitchen and Patio

When these southeastern Pennsylvania homeowners decided to replace their dilapidated deck, they turned to the Sonoma County wine country for inspiration. They enjoy their trips to California and wanted a mission-style design for their new outdoor kitchen and patio. Q&A with Spring Creek Design in PA

Though they live on the eastern seaboard, these homeowners cherish their frequent trips to the Sonoma County wine country. Professional’s Corner | Barn Light Pendants Complement Historic Log Building

If you’ve never been to Maine, try to imagine a state with hundreds of thousands of acres of forested land just ripe for fishing, skiing, hiking, and bird watching as far as your eye can see. Deep in a remote location of this beautiful state, architect Ellen Albrecht of ENS Associates, found herself remodeling a 100-year-old historic log building nestled amongst other aging log buildings. When it came to the exterior lighting, Ellen chose some classic barn pendants to highlight two porches — one open and one screened.

Featured Customer | Porcelain Lights, Rustic Sconces Complete Boathouse Rebuild

When today’s Featured Customer wants to get away, Ben’s destination is a rustic location in Surry County, North Carolina, where he and his brother own a piece of property with a rich architectural history. They recently rebuilt the family boathouse which sees a fair amount of action thanks to the commercial trout hatchery that is supported on the property. The original boathouse was built in the 1930s in a rustic architectural design, and the brothers wanted to recreate this look both in the new design and with the lighting.

This Featured Customer from Millgrove, Ontario, Canada lives in a 200-year-old farmhouse and wanted a garden shed in a matching style. Ralph told us that the old garden shed on his property had lived well past its prime and needed to come down.
