Mason Jar Pendants Blend Old with New in Minnesota Kitchen

The words “reduce, reuse, and recycle” have gotten a workout since the first Earth Day was celebrated on April 22, 1970. But one of our new favorite “re” words is repurpose — finding a new purpose for an old material to give it new life and avoid the landfill. This kitchen features a perfect example of repurposing as old Mason-style ball jars become eye-catching industrial pendants.

Industrial Farmhouse Brightened with Porcelain Graniteware Pendants

Farmhouses can be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing in that they’re filled with character and history and charm. A curse in that the years can take a toll even on well-built homes. When Diane and Jim of Washington, Vermont, took ownership of their old family homestead, built in 1850, they knew it would need some updating.

Barn Pendant Lights for a Historical Farm House Renovation

barn_light_glass_shades_kitchen.jpgWhen you live in a place that saw settlers as early as the 1600s and your own home is more than 100 years old, you feel a sense of responsibility to respect the history and vernacular of the place. Featured Customer | Porcelain Pendants Lend Gracious Style to Kitchen Remodel

When Hélène of Pointe-Claire, Quebec began remodeling her kitchen, she wanted the various new elements, fixtures, and pendant lighting to respect the history of her centennial home.

“I wanted all of the new features to be in unity with the rest of the house,” Hélène says. “It is quite old. When I dig deep enough in the garden, I find horseshoes!” Hélène was striving for a country chic look but also the unpretentious, warm feel of a French farm. Hélène chose Barn Light Electric’s 12″ Ivanhoe® Sinclair Porcelain Pendant in a Graphite finish with a white canopy and polished nickel socket with a knob switch. Based on original 1930s designs, the Sinclair Pendant follows a simple industrial style with timeless appeal. Like all of our porcelain enamel lights, the Sinclair is American made with a baked-on porcelain enamel finish meant for years of use. Hélène also chose the black cotton twist cord for her new pendants for even more vintage flair.
