Angle Shades Encircle Music Club Adding Style and Safety

In last Monday’s blog, we took a look at the outdoor signage for one of Western North Carolina’s most popular music venues — The Orange Peel. Located in downtown Asheville, the building has a vibrant history ranging from a 1950s era skating rink to a music club that has featured everything from jazz and R&B to soul , disco, and funk. Although shuttered and empty for a time, the Orange Peel reopened in recent years and has been featured in several national magazines including Southern Living and Rolling Stone.

Professional’s Corner | Q&A with VAI Studio in Hawaii

In the tiny village of Olowalu on the island of Maui, a casual roadside café called Leoda’s Kitchen and Pie Shop opened last November. With the style of an old plantation store, Leoda’s serves sandwiches, sweet and savory pies, fresh-baked breads, and salads made from local ingredients. The remodeled space was created by Jeremy Stoddart, project manager for VAI Studio. In addition to using reclaimed and recycled materials throughout, Jeremy chose a variety of barn lights, porcelain warehouse shades, rustic sconces, and commercial grade ceiling fans from Barn Light Electric to create the warm and welcoming atmosphere at Leoda’s.

When City Mac decided to expand beyond its hometown of Traverse City, Michigan, company execs looked for 18 months before selecting a beautiful old warehouse in Asheville, North Carolina for its newest store. Angle Shades, Rustic Sconces Accent Hip NC Music Club

The building on the corner of Biltmore and Hilliard Avenues holds many fond memories for the people of Asheville. In the 1950s, kids spent hours skating at the roller rink there while Mom and Dad shopped the downtown department stores. Later, a variety of R&B and soul clubs took over the space, while disco and funk roared from the elevated DJ booth throughout the 70s. The nightclub’s popularity eventually faded, but thanks to a downtown redevelopment project, the Orange Peel was reopened and in its first three years of operation was recognized as one of the best live music venues in the nation by USA Today and Rolling Stone Magazine.

Barn Light Sconces Light Up Inn’s Walkways and Gardens

In last Thursday’s blog, we took you 3,600 feet up into the Blue Ridge Mountains to the High Hampton Inn where rustic, shingle-style buildings are nestled against a backdrop of lush greenery, a sparkling lake, and the rolling greens of the golf course. Gardens abound throughout the 1,400-acre property and pathways meander along with no particular place to go. Visitors find numerous places to sit and ponder such wonders as the world’s largest fraser fir tree. Even after dark, you can stroll the grounds with ease thanks to miniature barn sconces that are placed low to the ground to softly illuminate the paths.

Gooseneck Warehouse Shades Complete Casual Look of Grill

More than 40 years ago at a chili cookoff in Terlingua, Texas, the idea for Chili’s Bar and Grill was born, and since the opening of its first location in Dallas in 1975, Chili’s has enjoyed a fun and colorful history. For the first few years, only Schlitz beer was served since Schlitz was the only company that would give credit to small, up-and-coming businesses. Ever notice an upside down photo in the dining room or paw prints in the tile floor? These are long-standing Chili’s traditions. These days, Chili’s wants you to “savor the flavor” and it’s obvious they’ve been spicing up something besides the ribs! Many locations have been sprucing up their locations with new decor and gooseneck lighting.
