Week 11 Construction Update

The TV shows today make construction look too easy! In under 60 minutes, a hand full of people can clean out, demo, paint, and decorate entire rooms or garages. In 2010, we have had the pleasure with working on several television renovation shows – Construction Intervention, Garage Mahal, and Extreme Makeover, just to name a few. Working around the clock for 3-4 days, designers can take a cluttered or ugly space and transform it into a work of art. If only it were that easy! Sustainable Green Building Taking Shape

Sustainable green building design is defined as the practice of creating structures and using processes that are environmentally responsible and resource-efficient throughout a building’s life-cycle: from siting to design, construction, operation, maintenance, renovation, and deconstruction. Building within this framework has been a high priority since the inception of our plans to expand. From the initial purchase of an existing building to the plans to expand using a sustainable and eco-friendly metal building, our focus has been to use recycled materials and those able to be recycled at a later date.

Extreme Makeover of A Classic Rectangle

ABC’s Extreme Makeover has never been more appealing. Sitting in the comfort of my own family room, I love to watch the transformation of both a home and a family. The fact that this can be accomplished within the span of an hour is even more impressive. We are into week two and even though it’s flying by, the clock is ticking.

Barn Light Electric Building Starts a New Chapter

We’ve come a long way in the last few years. What started as a hobby in the backyard shed has grown….and grown….and grown! Last year Barn Light Electric moved into a beautiful retail/showroom in the Historic Downtown section of Titusville with high hopes of maintaining the majority of our space as a showroom. Within mere months, it became very obvious that we would need a much larger building to grow with our expanding manufacturing and product line demands. The showroom was downsized to accommodate the addition of a group of highly talented individuals that we consider the “Barn Light” family – some related, others considered as such. With this in mind, the hunt was on for a more accommodating space!
