Bright Porcelain Enamel Pendants in a Seaside Foyer
Coastal living and décor isn’t always about using weathered furniture or natural shades from the beach; occasionally, we’ll come across a coastal home with an out-of-the-box seaside scheme. This entryway is full of bright colors to really perk up your mood – after all, it’s not always sunny on the seashore. A dreary day can leave you feeling down, but a foyer with personality has positive effects similar to that of a Cape Cod crab bake on the beach – you just can’t help but smile!
Ample storage makes this small mudroom as functional as possible. Anything that you may need to grab on your way out the door is easily accessible. The bench has cubbyholes below for storing beach towels and sandals. Above are more shelves and cubbies for smaller items – wire baskets store the newly collected shells, while the wicker baskets undoubtedly hold the not so pretty items – flashlights, spare keys or extra sunscreen. Hooks on the upper shelving are perfect for hanging coats, hats and purses.
While all of the storage is great, let’s talk color. A bright mango accent wall pops against the white trim and shelving, plus coordinates with the throw pillows on the bench – the striped rag rug also adds to the fun color ways of the room. But the brightest element of them all is the postmodern pendant light near the center. A deep bowl ceiling light in an eye-catching shade of yellow definitely completes this room. Porcelain enamel pendants like the 17″ Ivanhoe® Bomber Porcelain Warehouse Light (shown on the right) are American made and have nearly the same look. Not quite sold on something so vibrant? Other enameled ceiling lights are available in coastal-like finishes of Jadite, Cobalt Blue or a clean and crisp White enamel.
