All Weather Gooseneck Barn Light Rust

A New Look For Wall Mount Lighting For The New Year

All-Weather-Gooseneck-Barn-Light-Rust

The New Year brings a fresh look to our popular line of light commercial fixtures, with an added finish and stylish enhancements to the All Weather Gooseneck Farm Lights, All Weather Farm Light Stem Mount Pendants, and Farm & Barn Cord Hung Pendants. First on the list of additions is the option for a Powder Coat Rust finish, which was previously unavailable on these fixtures, this addition expands the range of finish choices available for these lights. Previously contained to Galvanized, Dark Green, White, and Black, the Powder Coat Rust finish creates a complimentary fixture for homes and barns with cedar siding or reclaimed woods. Possibly the most distinguished improvement to these three fixtures is the extended shade depth, which was increased to make the bulb more recessed and provide a more robust appearance to this shade. This feature also provides a more rustic look than the previous model, creating a more historic, enduring look that was popularized by warehouse shades from the 1940’s. Topping the changes made to this light series is the addition to the Farm & Barn Cord Hung Pendant, which is now available with an all weather cord. This feature allows the light to be mounted in exterior applications or areas that encounter high levels of humidity. This makes it ideal for porches and open air sheds that would like to take advantage of this classic appearance or compliment their cracker house. Regardless of the use or style, each shade recaptures that timeless look that was created for form and function in the mid 20th century.

Vintage Warehouse Shade Cast Guard

A Substitute For Dull Hallway Lighting

Vintage-Warehouse-Shade-Cast-Guard

Depending on the decade, most homes saw the utilization of elongated flush mounted lights that focused on decorative molded glass fitters and elaborate etchings to line the ceilings of their halls. These traditional Victorian designs are still in use today, but with modern variations on the typical flush mount. The main draw back to this style is that it has come to be expected when walking down hallways, leaving no lasting memorable impression on this often forgotten space. With most remodeling occurring in larger open rooms, little attention is subsequently paid to smaller areas that are tucked away from view, like hallways. The potential to create something unique and memorable from this small area becomes apparent thanks to this latest customer submission. This unconventional solution to a common problem provides us insight with this revitalized hallway project. Breaking with tradition, the halls are illuminated by the addition of these two cord hung Warehouse Pendants that are complimented by a pair of guards and frosted glass units. This creative set up takes advantage of the higher ceiling height and ends up displaying a more diversified look to this traditional setting, ultimately creating some wow factor in a much needed space. By adding this American made light fixture one is certain to walk away with some much needed attention, insuring that a lasting impression was made thanks to the functional stylish design.

Indy Industrial Bare Socket Drop Light

A Classic Drop Light For Creative Ideas

Indy Industrial Bare Socket Drop Light

The origin of today’s drop lights can be traced to modest beginnings, where the need for adequate lighting pushed for the development of products that could provide a large distribution of light for factory workers and tradesmen alike. The most rudimentary creation to come from this new technology was the use of a bare socket and bulb, suspended from a cloth cord, that provided a wide dispersion of light in small work areas. With the creation of this particular product, an increase in productivity for both consumer and worker began to occur, leading to a drastic rise in the quality of living at the time. Also benefiting greatly from this advancement were storage areas, closets, and cellars that until this time had not been utilized due to the previous lack of sufficient light. Celebrating this monumental advancement, Barn Light Electric introduces the Indy Industrial Pendant that takes this classic stripped down appearance and brings it to the forefront of the lighting market. Whether used by itself or grouped together with additional matching pendants, the Indy makes a bold statement above dining tables, bars, and open lofts creating the perfect Industrial centerpiece. Punctuating this vintage look is the soft orange glow relayed through the squirrel cage filament of a Nostalgic Edison Light Bulb. This is the ideal light for the minimalist at heart hoping to re-capture a moment in time where the Industrial Age soared to new heights thanks to the invention of this no-nonsense light. Although later refinement of this design led to the creation the Trouble Light, which is still in use to this day, the countless changes made stand no match to the revolutionary appearance originally captured by this beloved Industrial Pendant.

Rebirth Of The Classic Drop Light

Factory Benjamin Drop Light

In the early part of the 20th century, Benjamin® Electric specialized in the manufacturing of various types of porcelain RLM shades that were placed in warehouses and factories. This light design garnered much praise throughout the years due to functionality and durability, leading to a modern day Urban Revival, punctuated by these familiar shades. The typical warehouse shade was identified by a deeper shade design due to the elongated walls and a familiar dark green finish. This design was ideal for larger areas, but the need for a smaller shop light was evident.

Rice Cabin Warehouse Shade

Lighting That Maintains A Sustainable Look

Warehouse-Light-Reclaimed-Cabin

The latest trend facing the building community is creating an eco friendly living space out of as many reclaimed materials as possible to reduce waste, and build a unique residence out of these naturally worn items. Contrary to popular belief, going green is not limited to energy efficiency, but also applies to the use of sustainable building materials that may have been recycled from older barns, commercial structures or demolition projects. This not only benefits the environment, but also provides a non-uniform appearance to the exterior or interior of any project. Utilizing this approach, this customer submission benefits from the use of reclaimed wood planks from a 100 year old barn that was recycled to make the walls of this impeccable Washington cabin. With such a spectacular view of the Deschutes National Forrest, creating a unique cabin that equally reflected this breathtaking terrain was a sizable task, but the mixture of rich browns that compose the exterior of this cabin allows it to naturally blend in with the scenic canopy of pine trees in which it is set. The main goal of this project was to utilize as many reclaimed pieces as possible, but the need for more than adequate doorway lighting was needed. This concern prompted the use of an inconspicuous Barn Light Electric favorite, the Artesia Warehouse Shade, a light who’s minimized traditional warehouse shade and large performance creates a warm inviting entrance to this seasonal retreat. Coupled with the sustainable galvanized steel material and soft white glow from the energy efficient compact fluorescent bulb, this timeless shade fits with the rustic integrity of this reclaimed cabin.
