Cozy Retreat Transformed with American-Made LED Barn Light
Screened-in porches are a great way to enjoy the outdoors without bugs and rain. But when the temperature drops, use of these spaces is limited. Jamie wanted year-round use of the porch at his Wilton, Connecticut, home so he decided to remodel the space into a four-season sunroom. With added heating and cooling, he now enjoys extended use of the porch, reduced noise pollution, plus an increase in his home’s overall value.
“We wanted the new 4-season room to be barn style to match the house,” Jamie says. “When I looked for lighting, I wanted an American-made fixture with an 18th or 19th century feel.” Jamie opted for the classic and timeless look of an RLM-inspired gooseneck light but with the updated amenities of LED.
He chose the Marathon Nautical LED Gooseneck Light and customized this handcrafted fixture with a generous 16″ shade and Oil-Rubbed Bronze finish. Jamie selected the G15 gooseneck arm to provide the appropriate height and projection from the façade of the new room.
To add a hint of nautical flair, he opted for a Matte White cast guard and frosted glass on this fixture. A heavy-duty backing plate ensures that the gooseneck will remain steady even in high winds. The energy-efficient and environmentally friendly LED options include 1600 lumens and a 3000K color temperature.
The integrated LED module in Jamie’s new light offers an average of 50,000 hours of service and no light bulbs to change ever!
“I chose this light for its uniqueness,” Jamie notes. “And I chose the 16″ shade because people tend to undersize outdoor lighting fixtures. Outdoor scale is different than indoors.” He adds that the frosted glass diffuses the light just enough to keep it from being too bright.
