Featured Customer | Porcelain Stem Mount Lights Take Starring Role in Kitchen Remodel
If you’re a regular reader of interior design blogs and drool over the professional photos on sites like Houzz and Remodelista, it may seem daunting to remodel your own space without the help of a professional designer. Today’s Featured Customer admits she’s no designer, but when she launched into a complete gutting of her 1991-era kitchen, she followed her heart in picking out new lighting.
“I simply picked what I liked,” Tawnya says. “I didn’t want to date our kitchen with the lighting because this is our forever home!” Tawyna chose a classic porcelain stem mount light for over the table which cozies up to built-in banquette seating in front off the window. The 20″ Benjamin® Sky Chief Porcelain Stem Mount Light throws plenty of light onto the table and the Metallic Chrome finish adds a touch of class.
Over the peninsula, Tawnya stayed with an RLM-inspired warehouse shade and had her builder, Paul Vondersaar of Vondersaar Homes in Carmel, Indiana, install a Benjamin® Polly 2-Light Porcelain Stem Mount Pendant also in a Metallic Chrome finish.
“I selected these lights because I could get the color that I wanted,” Tawnya says. “The Metallic Chrome was a little bling that I could add without being over the top.” Tawnya customized her Benjamin® Polly Pendant with a 36″ galvanized stem and two 12″ mounting arms.
Like all of our porcelain enamel lights, these two fixtures are American made and hand spun from commercial grade steel. The porcelain enamel glass is also hand applied then baked to produce the signature, glossy finish that will never fade. Tawnya notes that her new lights are easy to keep clean with mild soap and water. A variety of finish options are available for both of these fixtures so you can create a space that is worthy of a Houzz Tour even without the benefit of professional help!
